In June of 1995, Ernie and Mary Schenone purchased a small chocolate
company in Eureka, CA. With a strong desire to combine their advanced degrees and work experience
with Ernie’s family farm background, the Schenones moved their newly acquired company to Stockton,
CA. With the dream of becoming a company renowned for its ultra-premium chocolate, impeccable
customer service, and innovative cutting-edge products, the Schenones took their first step into the
gourmet food business with Chocoholics Divine Desserts.
|
By 1998, Chocoholics Divine Desserts’ small product line was ready to expand.
The Schenones took their already successful premium dessert toppings, and added a new product. They
simply changed their existing label from “Dessert Topping” to “Body Frosting.”.The product created quite
a buzz that reached much farther than the already tapped gourmet food industry. The product has attracted
attention across the nation, including magazines such as In Style, Bon Appetite, RedBook, Vogue, Yahoo!, and Playboy.
|
In the summer of 2001, Chocoholics acquired and moved the Fantastic World of Gourmet
Chocolate out of Hallstead, KS to Stockton, CA. The Schenones re-evaluated the small company’s product line
and integrated select items to the existing Chocoholics product line, producing a winning combination.
Chocoholics Divine Desserts’ incredible performance earned the Schenones number 469 in the 2001 edition of Inc
Magazine’s 500 fastest growing privately owned companies in America.
|
Continuing to grow at over 354% from 2000-2003, Chocoholics earned another spot in the
Inc 500’s Fastest Growing private companies list. With over 300 products, from truffles to chocolate Voodoo Dolls, Chocoholics
made the big leap and announced plans for their new manufacturing facility and retail store in Clements, CA. In March of 2004
the Schenones moved into their new manufacturing facility. It was a year later that Chocoholics Divine Desserts Retail Shop
opened. The New Retail Shop features gourmet chocolates, specialty coffee drinks, super-premium ice cream, and sundaes topped
with their own branded Chocoholics decadent dessert toppings.
